“The only thing better than perfect is
standardized”
-- Technology Connections (Youtuber)
PRELUDE :
• Fully
understanding this joke (?) requires a surface level knowledge in Linguistics,
i.e. couples of entries in a search engine & Youtube.
This is
coming from a dude whose specialty is Economics, so it’s not like a Linguist
full of himself telling you a « Duh ! it’s just X, Y, and Z » with X, Y, and Z
being post-grade level stuff!
• Trust
me, it’s about open-source and Freesoftware; you just have to get to the end of
the table where the descriptions will start metamorphing into titles like those
at the top; basically a “double-titled table” like those graphs with 2 Y axes
and one X axis.
• Besides
the funky hook quote at the beginning that I remembered while writing, I did my
best to be neutral, it’s why I’m presenting what’s bellow descriptively (yes it
looks comparative, it’s just because I organized things in a table), meaning I
present it the way I perceive it, thus anything I say here doesn’t mean I point
to it as being bad or good, nor that one thing is bad and the other is good.
This is
just the textual corpus of a dumb idea I had for a split second.
I’m
waiting for your feedback (^_^).
• I can
already see here what could be perceived as contradictions and cognitive
dissonance; meaning that either this table needs to be improved upon, or I should
be corrected as a whole LOL.
•I hope tho
these analogies help building better systems.
Usual
Languages |
Conlangs
(=CONstructed LANGuageS) |
Mainstream |
Obscure |
Emergent
start: Created
through interaction between an initial group. |
Localized
start: Created
through the goals of an individual or a –subsequent to the initial- group
that’s part of a bigger group. (e.g.
Esperanto and Toki Pona) |
Behave
dynamically & fluidly to the interactions of its group (i.e. user-friendly). It can
even borrow words, syntax, and grammar from other languages. Some
call it also loan, but not sure if anyone ever called it stealing, in a sense
it is stealing because native speakers didn’t consent to it, hadn’t a
consensus with those who took them, nor have they got any type of monetary
compensation. XD |
Follows
the goals of its creator: > e.g.
the creator of Esperanto wanted to have peace through a unified international
language. In
fact, this universal open-sourced :) language was gonna be adopted in on so many
levels, but then personal interests came into play: • Esperanto
was doing all right & had support in Tsar Russia + Esperantians helped
overthrowing Tsar to establish Communism + Communists believed Esperanto will
bring Communism to the world + Stalin liked it when he was a young rebellious
kid & tried learning it, but fought it when he took power to avoid it
gathering opposition under one umbrella (and also the fact that It could work
as a cipher for how few were speaking it) • League
of Nations almost adopted it after an Iranian suggestion, but France’s Veto against
it as they say it will challenge French language’s dominance in the world XD. • Adolf
H*tler opposed it altogether calling it a Jew*sh plan (the guy who created it
was a J*w) that will –allegedly- gonna make humans universally mixed, thus
losing their identity, and subsequently edge/privilege/ degree of
strength/performance level. • Iraninan
revolutionists liked Esperanto & encourage people to learn it after they
won so they can fight Imperialism; then turned against it when they’ve found
out that Bah’Iists learned it before them..and yeah they don’t like Bah’I
faith lol. |
Lacks
sense/ not structurally perfect: > e.g.
English and French have a high orthographic depth; and that’s a bad thing lol;
but hey! Just like with the Planaria that has its DNA all jumbeled up, it
still manages to be F*CKING IMMORTAL!! Just look it up, you won’t regret
seeing how this creature lives forever, regenerates every organ including the
head, and reproduce via splitting! Yes, splitting like a freaking cartoon or
horror movie! Here you are wanting to kill it by cutting off its head, then
you end up with two of them!!. |
Makes
sense / structurally perfect (in fact, making sense & being perfect is relative to its
creator’s goals & frames of reference) > e.g.
Loglan has its words intermingled in a logically consistent way |
-subsequently
& naturally- Agreed upon, and sometimes Standardized[1]. |
Excessive
tweaking & development, constent disagreements, infights, and forks :) . >
e.g. Lojban is a fork of Loglan >
Another example is Vulapük who just got fragmented to oblivion lol >
Even Esperanto had some couple little bast*rds like Ido and Inter Lingua (ia) |
Mass -& primeval- adoption |
Limited -& subsequent- adoption
(if not, then fragmented one) |
General
Purposed |
Niche
purpose |
Limited
modification/customization (an indirect standardization): Due to
them already being widely used the way they are; so having unlimited mods can
render them intelligible to the rest of the –massive- users. |
Unlimited
modifications/customization (an indirect fragmentation): This
is what sometimes starts disagreements, infights, and conflict. |
Fundamental
suggestions, decisions, and changes are made by –small - unelected
centralized establishments in unscheduled times & spaces, then announced
to the –mass- users: The
masses doesn’t generally care that much on the short term due to changes
usually being small, and only makes a noticeable/significant change when they
are incremental/cumulative in the medium & long term (that is if the mass
already forgot or adapted to it; propaganda helps cementing this last point a
lot lol) |
Fundamental
suggestions are made by any establishments in unscheduled times & spaces,
then a decentralized election takes place to vote on whether the suggestion
(of a decision/change) should take effect or not: That’s
what sometimes starts forks as sometimes clumps of people smaller than the
larger group agrees on what the decision taken through voting is against,
thus creating smaller rebellious in-groups that goes to start their own
thing. . |
Static: Which
kinda feels safe for the general public, and keeps their minds off of
thinking about it a lot (no wonder why language is being taking care of by
human autopilot)[2]
|
Vibrant: Which
is cool & cute of you are a poet or artist, but a nightmare as a daily
& active user. If you think tongue twisters are bad, come try a mind
bender. No thank you, I don’t want another fork to what I should normally not
think about the slightest in my lifetime LOL[3]. |
Full
of residue
(i.e. bloat) from past archaic uses, and current junk appeal (to its wide
audience): No
wonder it’s static |
Practical,
Tight, Clean, and Efficient: If you
like that, then you should also accept having your tongue & mind twisted,
bent, forked, and spooned for the slightest inconvenience one of our Free Autonomous
Libre Decentralized Distributed Out-Sourced Open-Sourced Open-Accessed Voter
Individual (FALDDOSOSOAVI) has XDD. |
Kind
of like Microsoft’s Windows Operating System (Ms-WinOS), right? Even
with its shady origins, its history – & the history of older DOS- is
similar to that of normal languages, especially languages officially &
administratively adopted by nation states and civil states.
Macintoch
Operating System (MacOS) is more like a language in a Tyrant’s country: More
controlled than Windows & others, plus you live a boring life that lacks
innovation & progression outside what the tyrant deems good or bad LOL. In
hindsight that’s like Windows, but at least in Windows you can protest, or
buy your own land to farm or some sh*t & be a little independent. MacOS
prohibits even the private ownership of land XD |
Kind
of like GNU-Linux’s Distros (DISTRibutiOnS), right?: Maximum
freedom, maximum chaos, maximum enjoyment. The
Anarchy we all dreamed about as careless teenagers, but rejected as
responsible adults with kids, partner, parents, families, friends, closed
ones, and communities to look after.
(Linux
Mint is the Toki Pona of distros, Ubuntu its Esperanto, and Arch its Lojban
XD) |
[1] There are cases where a tribe’s
language is forced on the rest through mixed marriage reconciliations,
genocides, ethnocides, subsequent subordination of war victories, and formal
modern education. Most these issues couldn’t have been mitigated after the rise
of modern states and international affairs like they would’ve through brute
conflict of the old world.
[2] I mean no one wants
to waste his M.E.A.T (Money, Energy, Attention, Time) on such things, right?
Not everyone should or could be forced to focus on things they have no interest
in or passion toward; and this is regardless of the individual/collective
having responsibilities, priorities, social life, and individuals/collectives
to take care of.
That’s why everyone outsource some of their M.E.A.Ts to begin with:
> Whether to their Autopilote mode: aka not caring as
mentioned above. Which is the most efficient outsourcing
> or some Subsidiaries: aka Each other so everyone gets
some of the other’s job done when their M.E.A.T isn’t
enough/suitable/convenient/available at that time. And even if that M.E.A.T
doesn’t have the limitation mentioned latterly, we don't actually trust
ourselves with some –important- things; such as banking, health, protection,
food, drink, shelter, etc. But in hindsight we don’t trust ourselves with them
because we outsourced the power over them so that people with enough/suitable/convenient/available
M.E.A.T could make them ever so slightly better for our convininece.. DUAAH! We
got scammed! Right? No? idk; what do you think?
Note that subsidizing job doesn’t have to be done right, only done
enough to be convincing XD; e.g. scammers, fraudsters, clergymen, Capitalists,
Anarchists, Communists, etc XD.
[3] Also, if someone
here is against being against vibrancy, then know that:
It's not like those who don't know or do “Vibrancy” are dumb, but rather
they have other things they know & do; thus they wouldn't mind those
knowing “Vibrancy” to make it "conform" to them if they are going to
pitch it to them and sell it to them.. which they do!! But those who know
“Vibrancy” and build “Vibrancy” for free & open don't do it, because they
think they owe those not knowing these something.. which they don't.
[yes I know, big debate & twisters just there lol].
